At CHAMPERNOUNE We feel it is a very big responsibility to breed a litter and we consider Akita puppies like real "little persons "so feel very privileged to have the joy of bringing them into this world and watch over them for their first weeks so that they develop into healthy furry bundles of joy. Of course we study dogs , pedigrees and health clearances for years before making the choices we feel will fit our breeding program.
When "we" are expecting a litter our whole sitting room turns into a nursery !!! and for 2 months we change the entrance door to the kitchen and live around our litter ...we don't do anything else than watch them grow and pamper them. During their first 8 weeks they watch TV ,listen to all sorts music from classical to jazz also rock N roll and even opera!! They have a big choice of CD's!! Our Golden retriever "Jaegger" is their Official British Nanny and he drops his toys into their pen to teach them to retrieve... His grandson "Tattoo" is now learning the trick. The terriers teach them to dig after moles and our son Robin teaches them everything else !!including Skate board, dancing, wrestling and bad French words!! etc They also learn that dishes going into the dishwasher have more flavor than coming out of there!

That Brooms are very funny to run after and attack ,vacuum cleaners are not so nasty as they seem at first but rather noisy and cover the music.

As soon as the weather permits they all rush out the door to taste flowers and tulip bulbs ,grass and leaves and discover the magical feeling of the sun shining on their bellies .They play hide and seek in the flower bushes and fall asleep in little (big) piles.. nothing is more heartwarming than watching them discovering butterflies and birds etc...Oh I forgot they also love playing with water.. pretending to be fishing wild salmon in their water dish or mistaking Big snakes with the water hose!!!

When they grow bigger they love going down the garden to watch the chickens ,ducks and geese they can spend hours sitting in a row just figuring out how to lay eggs!!!...They are also thrilled to meet the 2 mini Shetlands Flo and Malibu who they fleabite from the other side of the fence and play running up and down the paddock..

As you see akita puppy life is quite intense here!!!
